It’s getting to that time of year again when you start paddling in the dark; its wet, miserable and you’re cold. You put on so many layers to keep warm that you can’t move. I’m lucky that I’ve been using Reeds thermals for about 6 years now way before they sponsored me,  you might think this is biassed but I’ve had my fair share of thermals and rate Reed’s as one of the best.

I have one thermal that I wear all year round. Yes that’s the same thermal for spring, summer, autumn and winter. It keeps me nice and warm even when I have to break the ice to go paddling. Don’t get me wrong they aren’t waterproof and must be worn with a decent cag deck to prevent water trickling up your arms. You don’t stand a chance even with all the layers in the world, without a cag you will get cold. They make both the transpire fleece top and bottoms in lots of different sizes (S,M,L,XL,XXL) so are able to cater to everyone. They even make a kids version of the thermals to fit smaller people. I use an adult size large to give you an idea of sizing.

As you can see by the picture Reed not only do thermal tops but they also produce Transpire Fleece thermal bottoms. I use them both when I’m river running to keep me snuggly warm. The Transpire Fleece thermal bottoms cost £41 and can be bought here: –

The Transpire Fleece thermal top top is very reasonably priced at £35 which is a very competitive price considering what other thermals cost in the slalom market. This thermal I’ve found to be thicker than most on the market, hence why I’m able to get away with only wearing one. This then makes it even cheaper as you don’t need to shell out lots of money to buy lots of thermals. When you put them to dry you’ll find that they dry pretty quickly. The Transpire Fleece thermal top can be bought from here: –

To summarise I think this is a great product for how much it costs and keeps you nice and warm throughout the cold winter. I would recommend this product to people, I’ve tried lots of other thermals and always come back to this one being the best for me. If you have any questions about this product feel free to speak to me and I’ll do my best to answer them.
